The Portugal captain wants to help his home island battle raging fires

Cristiano Ronaldo has offered financial aid to his home island of Madeira. Fires have been raging on the island for the last three days. Four people have died and more than 1,000 people have had to be evacuated. The fires were caused by arsonists and several suspects have already been arrested.

However, the island continues to battle these elements. Spain and Italy have sent planes to help firefighters contain and put out the flames. Strong winds and high temperatures aren’t helping efforts. RTE report that
around 40 homes have been destroyed as well as a five-star hotel in Funchal.
The Ronaldo financial aid reports were made by Sic Noticias. They didn’t elaborate as to how much Ronaldo offered or what his money would fund. His history of benevolence and patriotism, not to mention his huge bank account, would suggest that the Real Madrid attacker is willing to offer as much as the island needs. He’s already spoken on the phone with the President of the island, Miguel Albuquerque.
