Bastian Schweinsteiger’s situation has left a bit of a bitter taste at Manchester United.
While it’s all plain sailing on the pitch, with new glamour signing Pogba and Zlatan delighting the Old Trafford crowd, poor Bastian Schweinsteiger has been cast out into the cold.
The German World Cup winner was unceremoniously banished from first team training by Jose Mourinho before the season started, and sent to train with the reserves until he finds himself a new club.
So in the meantime, Schweinsteiger has been left in Limbo, and while his Manchester United career is now essentially over, he’s continued supporting from the stands and via social media.
United have to pay him compensation
And Mourinho’s uncompromising treatment of the German will cost United, according to the Star. The paper report that United will have to pay Schweinsteiger a severance package, as he’s still under a contract worth 17m pounds.
Having bought him for around 6.5m pounds last summer, the Star say that United are now ready to accept as little as 2m pounds for him, with a move to Inter Milan in the offing.
