The Rio Olympics women’s 400m final witnessed a hilarious scene as Bahamas Athlete Shaune Miller threw herself across the finish line to snatch victory from American Allyson Felix who was the favourite.
In a dramatic finish, miller threw herself over the finish line to win the race in 49.44 seconds while Allyson Felix and Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson came second and third respectively.

A delighted Miller said: “I’ve never done it before. I have some cuts and bruises, a few burns. It hurts, when I was on the ground I didn’t know I’d won. I still don’t know how it happened. What was in my mind was I had to get a gold medal. The next thing I was on the ground. It’s an amazing feeling. My mind just went blank. I heard my mom screaming. When I heard her screaming, I was like, ‘OK, I had to have won the race’.
The desperate dive came on a wet night when runners had difficulties running on the tracks as they clattered into hurdles while discus slipped from hands which triggered a 20-minute break.
